The Challenge: Accessing Critical Data from a Remote Partner’s System
Ceaco needed access to critical business and customer data that was resident on their manufacturing partner’s accounting system—100 miles away. At the time, Internet access was practically in its infancy, and Ceaco’s remote access technology was not adequate to the task. In order to run their business efficiently, Ceaco employees needed secure and timely access to inventory and production data residing on a remote system.
The Solution: Citara STEPs in with Internet and Terminal Server
We immediately put our STEP process into high gear. We consulted with teams at Ceaco—and their remote manufacturing partner—to understand exactly what their business objectives were and to target ways to access the information securely. We then designed and implemented a solution that involved increasing Internet bandwidth at Ceaco’s main office, installing a Terminal Server at the manufacturing facility, and configuring encryption to securely access data via applications on the Terminal Server.
The Result: Increased Business Efficiency and a Very Happy Client
Ceaco was able to quadruple the number of users accessing their partner’s data at speeds not previously attainable. Employees were extremely pleased with the speed of the new environment, which enabled them to complete more work in less time. The efficiencies gained by obtaining data that was vitally needed by management greatly enhanced their ability to manage and grow their business.
